HELLO! My name is CHICKIE!
Tipper and I felt sickie this week. We weren’t romping or eating as much, and we started quirping. So Mommy looked up what could be wrong, and she thought it might be our food. #2 Hooman Sister said it could be a lergy, but we told Mommy no, we wanted new food.
So Mommy bought some Sensitive Stomach food and started mixing it with our regular food. We felt better right away!
I went back to my favorite job of clawing the back off of the table cloth.
I sat in the middle of Mommy’s TV table when she was getting ready to watch a show and eat lunch.
No, she didn’t give me any of her food. I don’t like nasty hooman food! I only like my own new food. And fish juice, but she wasn’t having fish.
I climbed on the TV stand and knocked Mommy’s papers onto the floor.
I did my bat appression again. I didn’t feel like doing that for a while. Mommy thought I was just tired of it, but I didn’t feel like it, and now I do again.
Mommy put a box on the floor, and I splored it for her.
Tipper and I romp in the day and romp in the night. We chase each other around the house, and in and out of Mommy’s bedroom. We bounce off the furniture — Mommy calls that Parkour, Poppy used to call it rumbling, but we call it romping.
To make up for it, I decided to be good and help Mommy pay the bills.
I’m such a good helper, she said I had done enough after only a minute!
Mommy says she’s so happy we feel better, she doesn’t care what we do. Sometimes, she says she’s going to put us back on the sickie food just to get some peace, but we all know she doesn’t mean that. Now I have to go romp some more. Bye!

April 3, 2021 at 9:00amYeah, this morning, Tipper was sitting on the window seat, and Chickie made a standing jump to his level and took a swipe at him. Hijinks ensued.

April 3, 2021 at 4:24pmWhy is it that cats love to get inside boxes and other small things? Esplain it to me Lucy!

April 4, 2021 at 10:16amI can’t splain it. Maybe they just want to take up all the space there is, and they can do that better in a small thing.

April 3, 2021 at 4:37pmSorry to hear you and Tipper weren’t feeling that great. You certainly have your zing back now though. You two are like Pop-Eye the Sailor Man, except I guess you wouldn’t like spinach. 🙂
Marian Allen
April 4, 2021 at 10:17amChickie would beg for spinach until I gave her some, and then she would sniff it and walk away. Sara’s old black cat, Alexander Russianpants, DID eat canned peas, so Chickie always fools me when she begs for veg.

April 4, 2021 at 5:31pm-grin- I’ve never had a cat friend who liked veg. but Pippi loved plain yoghurt. And cake. They are strange and always interesting little people. 🙂

April 5, 2021 at 9:27amThey are! Are you on Instagram? There’s a cat named Balaam who loves “that slimey white stuff” — yoghurt. I used to have a cat who loved popcorn, but that’s as close to veg as she got. 🙂

April 5, 2021 at 7:42pmlol – no, no Instagram for me, but I’m almost tempted just to meet Balaam. Pippi and I were the only ones who liked yoghurt. Now that she’s gone, I’m on my own.

April 6, 2021 at 12:11pmCharlie was the yoghurt hound in our house. I like it, but I don’t LOVE it the way he did. If I buy a package, it goes bad before I think to eat it. 🙁

April 6, 2021 at 8:15pmI love the sour taste, but mostly I eat it with Morello cherries, which are also sour but preserved in a sweet syrup. The Morellos have that dark red/purple thing that reduces inflammation. When taken regularly they stop the first small twinges of arthritis in toe and thumb. Oh and the two together taste fabulous! lol

April 7, 2021 at 9:22amGood to know! I’ll have to see if we have any around here; I have occasional inflammation in my thumb joints. Comes from twiddling them too much when I should be working, maybe.

April 7, 2021 at 8:14pmlol – maybe. 🙂 You may know the Morello cherries as ‘sour cherries’.

April 8, 2021 at 8:19amOkay, I’ll bear that in mind.

April 4, 2021 at 12:55amI hate it when pets aren’t feeling well, and they really can’t tell you why or where, but just look at you with those big eyes.

April 4, 2021 at 10:20amI know. I need to get the cats one of those button arrays like Bunny the “Talking” Dog or Billi Speaks have. Bunny pressed “ouch”, “paw”, “stranger”, and it turned out she had a mat with a splinter in it stuck in her pad.

April 4, 2021 at 3:50pmAs long as they don’t get a button that says ‘hungry’ – people tell me their cats will eat continuously if allowed to, I’ve seen photos of some very fat cats which is evidence of overfeeding, I’d think. It can’t possibly be good for them, and it is really hard to wean them off and get them thinner. Because they’re always hungry – and you can’t explain.

April 5, 2021 at 9:25amBilli does have a button that says “food”. Her mom got a timed feeder, so Billi can’t nag her into feeding her. Now the mom is teaching Billi the difference between “soon” (within 15 minutes) and “later” (longer than that). So when Billi says “Food”, Mom can say “Food soon” or “Food later”. If it’s “later”, Billi says “Mad. Mad. Mad.”
I feed my cats twice a day, and give them one or two cat treats during the day. I slimmed Mom’s cat down, after Mom’s dementia kept her from taking good care of Sweetie Pie. I measured out her daily ration, gave her about a third of it in the morning, and left the rest on the counter above her bowl. During the day, when Sweetie Pie would beg for food, Mom would take a few pieces out and give them to her. Then she’d give her the rest just before bed. It kept both of them happy, and the cat lost weight. It was the IDEA of food on demand that the cat craved more than the bulk.

April 5, 2021 at 9:46amLife is different for cats – I’m going to pass your idea on to a friend whose cat is always hungry.
