Coffee How I Do

I was gratified to hear that Youngest Grandson (now 16! !! ! ) doesn’t like his mother’s coffee because “it isn’t like the way Grandmar makes it.” #3 Daughter always called me Mar (mare), short for Marian, and she had the first grandson, so all the grands call me Grandmar.

ANYWAY, here’s how I do coffee, just in case you’re interested.

Grandmar MomGoth’s Coffee

  • 2 Tbsp hazelnut coffee
  • 2 Tbsp decaf hazelnut coffee
  • 8 cups tap water
  • coffeemaker set to Bold brew

I don’t always buy Folgers. As you can see, my grocery stopped carrying Folgers decaf hazelnut, so I buy whatever ground decaf hazelnut I can find and put it in the old Folgers canister. Why don’t I just leave it in the container it comes in? Just a little touch OCD is why. I reckon if that’s the worst manifestation of it I have, I’m ahead of the game.

P.S. Daughters #1-3 are my stepdaughters, who I adopted when Charlie and I got married, so that’s why they call me by my name. #4 Daughter came forth from me in joy and pain, and she calls me Mom.

Hmmm, I’m allergic to hazelnuts. Mind if I stop at Dunkin’

Does hazelnut flavored coffee even have hazelnuts in it? I wonder…. Anyway, I’m sorry. When you come to visit, I’ll get French Vanilla or something. πŸ™‚

The best part of waking up is Grandmar MomGoth’s Coffee in your cup! I hear this is Folger’s new marketing jingle. πŸ˜‰

I love coffee, love hazelnut coffee, and DESPISE Folgers. With one exception: Folgers’s decaf is the ONLY drinkable decaf on the planet. I have no idea how they can ruin a regular roast and produce the only decent DECAF… are they Mormon? πŸ™‚ But your coffee tastes best, no matter what you use, because you’re Grand Mar!

πŸ™‚ My grocery is really weird: They have reg ground or decaf in the fancy coffee section in some flavors and only whole bean in the SAME BRAND AND SAME FLAVOR. So I have to mix and match. They used to have a coffee grinder, but maybe people allergic to some stuff were getting their coffee contaminated, so it makes sense to take that out. I have a little whizzy thing that is supposed to grind coffee, but it really just turns whole beans into lumps and dust. First World Problems.

Thanks, Holly! I’ll look into that. πŸ™‚ Of course, if you had told me you ground Grape Nuts in it, I’d be more impressed. Charlie and I used to call that “gravel”.

Yeah, All Bran Buds are just “cardboard nuggets.” Good source of fiber, and finally ground, they add a subtle sweetness. I never add sugar, honey, stevia, etc. to my smoothies.

I think I now understand the point of decaf coffee – to make regular coffee more flavourful without adding more caffeine (?)

For me, since I use flavored regular coffee, too, the point is to let me drink eight cups of coffee a day with only four cups of caffeine. My grandfather said I take after HIS grandfather, who kept a pot of coffee on the stove all day and added water when it got too strong.

I know, right? I had to go 24 hours without caffeine before my sleep apnea test. After my first cup when they released me from the testing facility, I felt like I could fly. πŸ˜€

I like Hazelnuts and the creamer, but seldom drink coffee so… I’m a tea drinker and I like a stron black tea with milk and sugar. So boring! 🀣

#1 Grandson doesn’t like the way my daughter aka Baby Girl makes his hot cocoa he only likes the way I make it. So, our grandson’s can relate!
