Chickie And Friends #Caturday #TipperAndChickie

HELLO! My name is CHICKIE!

Guess what Mommy did! She bought me my very own sink!

Water comin out of the flower, just like Mommy’s sink faucet!
What’s this, Chickie?
This is a Chickie thing!
Mmmmmm!

It’s getting crowded outside. Tipper and I are glad to be indoors where there’s plenty of room.

Knocking off deer ticks, or scratching antler nubs?
Right outside Mommy’s office window!
No, raccoon! Don’t come up here!
He came up here.

And then…. And THEN…. These guys came out from under the back porch.

Mommy calls them Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR ANIMALS: Do you have your own sink? I bet you don’t!

Wow! This is like the Marian Allen Game Preserve. It must drive the cays crazy, but it’s good to see all the wildlife. I’m glad Chickie has a fountain.

Chickie loves her new fountain, but she still likes to share Toothpaste Time with me. πŸ™‚ The wild critters don’t bother the cats much, except that they love to watch the birds and squirrels. It’s Boone-cat who drive Tipper nuts. lol

HA! I hope I don’t need licenses for all of them. I’d go broke fast. πŸ˜€

I never thought I would ever have foxes playing on my porch. It makes me inordinately happy. πŸ™‚

I haven’t seen them since SIL mowed the grass, but something has been playing with an insulated cloth box I left outside to get cleaned by the rain and the sun, so I’m hopeful.

Now I know why Tipper and Chickie aren’t allowed outside! You have a whole zoo out there. But those fox cubs…oh. my. god. I love foxes and these three are adorable. They obviously feel quite safe and…at home. So must Mamma Fox.
Actually I take it all back. It’s not a zoo, it’s a wild life sanctuary!

-cough- yes, there is a bit of that, isn’t there?
I still can’t believe you’ve got a whole family of foxes under your house. I’m actually a little bit envious. πŸ™‚

I haven’t seen them in a few days, although there WAS a dismembered bird wing by the back steps yesterday. Sara and I heard them barking in the woods last evening; I think maybe SIL mowing the back yard may have encouraged them to move on.

There’s something happening back there at night. I have a rug I keep over a bad place on the porch — waiting for lumber prices to come down — and something rucks it up. So I’m keeping an eye out. πŸ™‚

According to https://allthingsfoxes.com/, they sure do: the fox (and, I suppose, raccoon) predators we have around here are bobcats, coyotes, eagles, and owls. We’ve heard wolves before, but we think those were wolf/dog hybrids that people get because they think it’s cool.

Oh! Eagles? and Owls? We have some wedge tails eagles that sometimes circle our area and I’m always a little worried they’ll mistake Mogi for a snack [chihuahua cross]. I guess fox kits would be small enough to provide an easy meal too. :/

It could go either way. If the owl struck right, it could totally kill a fox, but a lucky fox could totally turn those tables. #NatureRedInToothAndClaw

We’ve seen both foxes and one owl here, but I still feel like such a city slicker. So much I don’t know, and don’t even know I don’t know. -rolls eyes-

I know what you mean. If it weren’t for the internet, I wouldn’t know what’s all around me. I was lucky enough to have country relatives who taught me some, and some long-time residents I met when we moved over here who helped.

I have a neighbour who has helped me a lot, especially with ‘bushfire craft’. Everything else I’ve learned by trial and error. I wish I’d asked my Dad about grafting while I still had the chance. When I was a kid, our backyard would be full of fruit trees bearing at least three different kinds of fruit…on each tree. πŸ™‚

Wow! That’s amazing! Bet the internet could help you out with that.

I’ve watched a couple, but it’s just not the same as seeing something in person. There are always one or two /little/ things that are always missed. :/
