Found Poem: Respect For Animals #MondayRecommends #NailArt

It’s been a long time since I poeticized an item from our local weekly newspaper’s call-in line. This one is a bit stream-of-consciousness, but heartfelt and very sweet. I hope I know this person.

Respect For Animals
by Anonymous

I just love the little creatures
that God has made for us on this Earth.
The cats and the dogs and the birds,
I just love
all the little animals.
Rabbits and everything.

But there's one thing I hate.
I hate when people are so rude
that they shoot
those loud sonic fireworks off
around the poor little animals
and scare them half to death.

I know one lady that said
her dog had trauma
for about two weeks after this.
The poor little dog
shook and quivered
and shook and quivered.

I'm going to ask the people
please be more respectful
around the little animals ...
Please show some respect
for the older people
that's got heart problems
and the little animals.

My nails this week, in honor of the return of the raccoon:

From pinky to thumb: no raccoon, raccoon face, raccoon body, raccoon paw prints, raccoon feast of blueberries.

All polishes are Maniology: base gray is Grey Joy, black is Straight Up Black, leaves are Lilypad, blueberries are Shibori. The matte topcoat is not Maniology; it’s Cuticula Sugar Coated Cloud Cover, the best matte top coat I’ve ever tried.

All plates are Maniology: The raccoon face is an ornament from Christmas plate M078, the body is from bee plate CYO X Maniology M093, the paw prints are from cat plate Maniology X MRSWHITE8907 M006, the leaves are from M164, and the berries are a dot pattern from Classic Beauty BM-XL355. I stamped the vines, then the berries, then the vines again.

And remember:

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about little animals and older people.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

The idiots in the neighborhood are getting ready. The annual nightmare for Maddie.

At least most of our neighbors are far enough away it isn’t unbearable. Middle Grandson, just a whoop and a holler away, does a certain amount of Dollar Store fireworks, so it’s more pop than boom. I do feel sorry for the little animals, even so. And, of course, the little old lady.
