Per Bastet Publications has done two events this year (with one to come in October), and books of the SAGE Trilogy have done well for themselves.

Book 1: The Fall of Onagros

In the first book of the SAGE trilogy, a legacy is lost, a woman vanishes into thin air, wisdom is found in unexpected places, and a man hopes to defeat a tyrant with tall tales and gossip.

All its ratings are 4 and 5 stars.

As you can guess from the five stars, I wound up enjoying the novel immensely. Marian Allen creates interesting worlds, filled with delightfully fleshed-out characters, settings and events. The book is easy to fall into and was hard to put down.

Book 2: Bargain With Fate

In the second book of the SAGE trilogy, memories, people, and items of power are recovered. The mighty are helpless, the weak are strong, and a little girl clutches creatures of terror to her ragged heart.

Also all 4 and 5 star reviews.

The rewards of this book by itself are many. The runaway Nerissa’s adventures are surprising, as well as superbly-crafted. The reader is left wondering just which of the many actors in this trio of stories will wind up where they want to be, which ones will get what they should’ve wanted, and which ones will just get what they deserve.

Book 3: Silver and Iron

In the final book of the SAGE trilogy, the contention over the throne of Layounna is fought on strange battlegrounds: an island, a henyard, a scrivenry, a pocket, and the heart of the chief claimant.

Again, 4 and 5 star ratings.

Silver and Iron, part 3 in Marian Allen’s trilogy Sage, is a feast of threads and plots coming together in a most graceful and exciting way. Marian Allen’s trilogy is a delightful read when you are looking for fantasy, enchanting characters, romance, riddles in words, humor and action. I loved these books and can recommend them with all my heart.

Shifty is a book of short stories set in the fantasy world of Sage. You don’t have to be familiar with the world to enjoy the stories, but if you have read the series, the short stories will be like a visit home during the holidays – familiar, nostalgic and warm.

I’m not a huge fan of short stories, but I did enjoy all of the stories of Shifty. I’d recommend it to all lovers of rich fantasy worlds.
