Chickie Loves Mommy #Caturday #TipperAndChickie

HELLO! My name is CHICKIE!

Tipper likes to pretend he’s so sweet, but he’s naughty sometimes, too.

The other day, Mommy gave me my office treat and then Tipper came wandering in. Mommy put down a treat for him, and he moved r-e-a-l slow and I ate my treat and grabbed his. He was too slow! It was driving me crazy! So Mommy held me back and gave him two treats so we’d be even.

I fussed at him for making me have to get held back, and he said, “How many office treats do we get?” I said, “One.” He said, “How many office treats did we get today?” See? He’s tricky!

Mommy ran the vacuum cleaner and I decided I would help her dust. I could check on the animals on the shelves, and make sure they aren’t real.

First, the raccoon cat who hides on the back of this shelf.

Then the cow cats on this shelf.

It was okay. They were still just hard shiny stuff.

But this groundhog cat was real, and sitting onna back porch!

I found a new play pretty. It’s so fun! I can pick it up and carry it, or toss it around, and it makes a clickety-clack when it hits the kitchen floor. I love Mommy, so I put it on top of Amidala’s Blanket on the bed next to Mommy, so Mommy can play with it, too.

I had another play pretty, but #4 Hooman Sister threw it away by askident. It was a skinny leaf from the outside of a corm cop. It was all rustley and light and SO FUN! #4 Hooman Sister didn’t know it was my toy, though, and she threw it out. Mommy says she’ll give me another one. I love Mommy! I’m trying to learn how to say her name, but all I can say is Mamma. I said that yesterday morning. Mommy was very happy.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR ANIMALS: Did anybody ever throw your best toy away?

Well, not quite toy, but when I was about five, and we drove from California to Michigan to visit relatives, my mother decided to give my blanket to ‘the bears at Yellowstone who needed it more’! She didn’t want me dragging it around my dad’s Michigan relatives. Mean.

Oh, that IS mean! My mom used to give my toys to “the poor children”, as if we weren’t poor. I cried over a couple of them.

Ugh…my Offspring is 34 and I still have all those teddy bears… Ahem. Sentimental, just a tad, but objects are repositories for memories. The older they are the better. You guard your play pretty, Chickie. It’s precious.

I have/had one teddy bear I bought to take to college with me. I let Sara have him when she was a baby, and she never gave him back. She still has him. ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes! Teddy bears are…special. ๐Ÿ™‚ I still have Palko. He’s a very small bear with no fur that came with me from Hungary. I suspect he’s almost as old as I am.
I knew you were both good people. ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi Chickie. I was so busy on Saturday, I missed your story. Iโ€™m glad I remembered to come back. Good job on taking Tipperโ€™s treat, Remind him, โ€œyou snooze, you lose.โ€

I sometimes slip Clara a few treats when we’re alone because generally, her brothers eat them up before she gets her share.

My mother took away my security blanket. I don’t know how old I was, I just remember it was “lost” and we “couldn’t find it”. I remember all the feels, which were irrational child feelings, like if a blanket could disappear, what about my yellow sippy cup, or mommy, or our dogs, or my tiger book, or grandma. I even remember when snow melted I thought maybe it went where my blanket went. I think I obsessed about losing things mysteriously for half of grade school. Divorce didn’t help. sad laugh Found the blanket in sixth grade, clean and folded neatly in my aunt’s linen closet. Cried. A lot. Took it home. Put it on my bed for near a decade before I gave it to my nephew when he was born. He spent years rubbing the satin edges on his cheeks too. <3

I can understand that scary feeling. That’s why shrinks tell us not to tell kids a deceased person is sleeping or went away. I’m SO GLAD you found your blanket! You’re a bigger person than I am, to give it to your nephew. I speak as a bear loser.
