Happiest Name Ever #1LinerWeds

Humor is a funny thing. Well, DUH. I mean it’s a peculiar thing. People study it, comedians and comedy writers work on it, there are patterns that work no matter what words you use, there are people who make the audience laugh by just walking onto the stage, and there are words that are just funny. Chicken is always good for a laugh. But what strikes people as funny — really funny — is unpredictable.

Here’s a line that always starts me giggling:

Oh, you doesn’t hasta call me Mr. Johnson.

It makes me giggle because I know what’s coming next. DO NOT ASK why I think this routine is unendingly funny, because I couldn’t tell you. I’m sure Bill Saluga never expected it to be more than a bit that would be forgotten as soon as the show was over. Instead, it’s been on everything from beer commercials to a kids’ dinosaur informational video.

And do, because you’re MomGoth’s sweet little baby angels, I give you:

“Ray Jay Johnson” was funny the first time he went through his spiel. After that, he was just annoying. Sorry…

Comedy is very subjective. You can dislike him and still be my friend. 🙂

Have you ever seen the episode of “King of the Hill” where Bobby finds his parents’ record of him and can’t understand what’s so funny about it?

No, I haven’t. I’ll bet Bobby not finding him funny is funny. 😀

The funny thing is him asking Hank and Peggy what’s so funny and having them dissolve into laughter…

It’s one of those things where it’s easy to explain why it ISN’T funny to you, but impossible to explain why it IS.
