Sample Sunday: Leaves

This was painted by my late sister-in-law, the magnificent Peggy Cox. She passed some years ago, but she’s still deeply missed by all who knew her.

I heart you, Peggy.

I have one painting and two tapestries. 🙂

The painting is a glorious watercolour painted by my neighbour, well over thirty years ago. He was elderly when I knew him. I’m elderly now. I miss you Jack. You too Betty.

The tapestries were created by my aunt, my Mother’s sister. Ilonka inherited all the creative genes on that side of the family and she also made intricate lace doilies. It’s her tapestries that I adore though.

Some objects are just objects, but the special ones are direct links to the past and keep memories alive. The best kind of immortality, imho.

We have quilts that my late mother-in-law made. She was so happy to visit and see her quilts on our beds. She said some folks put the quilts away to keep them, but she made them for us to use. We always think of her when we crawl under one.

Oh! I love quilts. You’re so lucky, not just to have them, but to have had such a lovely mother-in-law.
We put ourselves into everything we create. A lovely way to be remembered. 🙂
