No, every post from here on out will NOT be about cancer. I just got some good door pics on my perambulations, and why waste them?
I went to Baptist Floyd (sounds like a character from Mayberry, doesn’t it?) for a mammogram and ultrasound when the first mammo showed a suspicious mass. They have a special imaging center just for women, and here’s the door.
There was this cabinet outside, and Sara was like, “There are doors!” so I snapped them in passing, and it’s a little blurry.
The ultrasound looked suspicious, too, so they sent me for a biopsy. The doctor and ultrasound radiologist were both really really super nice, and the biopsy didn’t hurt a bit. I wasn’t even sore the next day.
Here’s a door-ish area where one could be private-ish while waiting.
This isn’t a door (obvs), but I like decorative tiles.
The biopsy came back positive, so my GP sent me to a surgeon. My GP is fantastic, and anything she says to do, I do, so I went to the surgeon she suggested, and he’s wonderful. Very clear, very patient, very positive without crossing the line into seeming callous about my concerns. Sara and I both loved him. Here’s the door to his waiting rooms. I really like the buttress-y bit.
Outside the Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where the surgeon is, I saw this faux Tudor building, and had to snap it, even though no doors are visible.
This door to the hospital is both sad and delightful.

December 30, 2021 at 8:26amThanks, Dan. I want other people facing this know it isn’t necessarily a life-wrecker. I want to help them know what to expect from the experience in a non-threatening way. My surgeon’s office gave me a big handbook, explaining everything in detail, but maybe some people’s surgeons won’t.

January 9, 2022 at 8:30amNorton’s is very kid conscious. They move adults around the hospital in wheelchairs. They move kids around (if the kid can sit up and want it) in little red wagons.
