Chickie Glamour Shots #Caturday #TipperAndChickie

HELLO! My name is CHICKIE!

Mommy has a new story up at her friend Jack Wallen’s website. It has a cat in it! It’s called “Mr. Sugar v. Sssanta”.

I’m busy helping Mommy make Christmas stuff, so I asked her to just take some pictures of me and put them up. She said they’re “glamour shots”, whatever that is. I didn’t want glamour shots, I wanted pictures! But Mommy’s the boss, I guess.

lol – just read about Mr Sugar’s adventures. I think if that had been me, I’d have run screaming from the house, dialling the exterminator as i ran!
And those are glamorous photos, Chickie. You look like a real model. 🙂

Sugar and DiMarco have been through worse than that. They met when they were both abducted by aliens. Mom’s house seems to be a ring-neck snake magnet. She, then I, then one of our renters, then Sara have flung their asses out the door so often it was a toss-up whether to call the exterminator or have a snake door put in. We finally got an exterminator.

Ugh…did the exterminator get rid of them? I know I should be more caring of all living creatures but snakes terrify me, and spiders sign their own death warrants when they come inside the house. 🙁 Outside, I live and let live.

The exterminator baited for MICE, under the assumption that the snakes were coming in looking for mouse babies. Every few weeks, the exterminator is contracted to come spray Snake-Away around the outside of the house. So far, so good.

Makes sense. Fingers crossed that they stop coming for good! -shudder-

The white squirrel’s feet were white. The raven Nevermore has feet the color of raven feet – probably black; I should look it up. The only other critter is a moth, and I didn’t check. I’m low on animals.

For women living alone who rarely go out, cats are common – but I don’t have a feel for the care part, so I haven’t written one. My loss, I’m sure. Sometimes wish I had one to stroke, but it has to be a two-way relationship, or it doesn’t work. Tellingly, two of my kids have cats, and the third will acquire a pair when she gets a job (the shelter sensibly requires that for owners, I assume because otherwise they get too many returns?).

Sometimes cats give back, and sometimes they don’t. Tipper loves to curl up on me when I’m lying on the couch, but avoids me when I’m in the bed. Chickie likes to be close, but not too close. Neither one growls or scratches if I pick them up, but they don’t stay long. You have to take them on their own terms, kinda like people.

There are toy ones just as soft if you want something submissive (I think they have a couple downstairs, for the lovely people in advanced levels of care).

I just decided I want one! No litter box! I can’t handle the cleaning, but would love something soft sitting in my lap.

I have one that purrs and meows and stretches. It moves its head and ears. I got it after our old Al died, and before we got our next cats. Their name is Coconut Fluff. It’s non-binary, so I can’t say he or she. Tipper loves Coconut Fluff, but Chickie knocks them over if I turn them on.

No thanks. Just ultra-soft and huggable and pettable. For me. I will see if Coconut has a non-robot version.

Well, don’t search for Coconut Fluff, because that’s just the name I gave them. I know there are soft, cuddly ones, even ones that purr. You have to be careful, though, because the ones that feel most like cats feel that way because they’re stuffing inside the real skins of real cats. I almost bought one once, but I found out in time.

Ack! I do not want a taxidermied cat! Thanks for the warning.

I’ll wait until I can see it in person before buying one – I can’t imagine getting one that used to be real – reverse Velveteen Rabbit.
