I watched this Disney animation a while back, but I rewatched it this weekend, this time with Sara (#4 Daughter). It held up.
Sara agrees that it’s not just an okay movie, it’s a super one.
Predators and prey live in harmony in the world, especially in the big city of Zootopia. They all walk upright and wear clothes; one of the funniest bits was when our heroine, following her crime investigation, winds up in a “Naturalist Club” and is shocked to see that the animals are all naked.
But it isn’t just funny. It’s also about fitting in, following your dream, the importance of your roots, and “us versus them” bigotry. It also touches on the good work celebrities can do to break down walls and bring people together.
It’s a feel-good movie with some of the warm fuzziness worn off. Highly recommended.
My nails this week are for Valentine’s Day, although they’re also dark. Dark like my heart.
The base polish is Starlight Polish’s Tiny Firebird and the stamping polish is Maniology’s Straight Up Black. The stamping plates are Born Pretty’s BP-26 and Maniology’s M013.
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about a dark Valentine’s Day.
