I watched The Adam Project on Netflix and I liked it so much I watched it with Sara the next night. I nearly watched it again this past Thursday, but I was reading MILDRED PIERCE so that didn’t happen.
The Adam Project that hit all my feels, bing bang boom. It made me laugh, but not so much because of the zingers or one-liners; the characters interact with each other in ways that tickle you and make you laugh. It made me cry, pretty much for the same reason.
As for the plot, it’s pretty convoluted, and that tickled me, too. It’s got time travel in it about the same way Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (or, as my #3 Daughter calls it, Ted and Fred) had time travel, and that tickled me. It reminded me a little bit of Cloak and Dagger, another favorite of mine, so that didn’t hurt.
Highly recommended. So is MILDRED PIERCE, although that’s about as far from those movies as Joan Crawford is from Mickey Rooney.
Here are my nails this week:
Ukraine. I did a blue/yellow gradient with Maniology’s Indikon (blue) and Twinkled T’s something-that-the-label-fell-off-of (yellow). I stamped sunflowers over the yellow part with Maniology’s Straight Up Black. On my accent nail, for some reason I painted the nail blue and picked up sunflowers with Maniology’s Straight Up Black, let the pattern dry on the stamper, then painted in the centers with Maniology’s Lace and the sunflowers with that Twinkled T yellow. Why I didn’t paint the nail yellow and just stamp the outline over it like I did the other nails, I do not know. The pattern is from Maniology’s Bundle Monster + de_briz BM-XL215, one of the first plates I bought.

March 28, 2022 at 10:04amLove the nails, Ukraine or no! I’m not one for doing my own nails (some guys are) but I love nail ART and flairs of creativity. Now and then I see nails that take time and effort, or successfully convey a certain style, and I can appreciate the effort that goes into it. There was a time I would have scoffed at a certain perceived vanity, but eventually I grew up enough to ask myself a) why not art instead of vanity, insomuch as all art is vanity to some extent, and b) to equate it to a sense of the fleeting, the kind of impermanence associated with sand and Himalayan monks who spend hours in order to behold “perfection” for a few seconds before destroying/erasing it, in order to learn to let go of things.
Sometimes ya gotta get off the farm and out into the Himalayas, amirite?!? Yay, rah, MONKS! Go-go, gadget Yeti of Enlightenment!

Sara and I do our nails because 1) it’s a fun thing for us to do together on Friday evenings 2) it’s little pieces of art that make us happy and 3) we’ll destroy the art in a week and replace it. We belong to a Facebook nail art community, and there are men in it. Some are nail techs, some do their wives’ nails, and some do their own.
