Driving Doors Heading Into a Cloudy Louisville, Kentucky #BreastCancer #Mastectomy not #TMI

Most of my breast cancer/mastectomy posts are intended for people who are facing or undergoing the same process I am, and may be TMI for non-cancerites, but this one isn’t. This time, I just want to say that the surgeon said all my lumps and bumps are normal at this time and should resolve within another six months. So much for “recovery time is two to three weeks”. Ha!

ANYWAY, Sara drove me to that appointment, at which I was dismissed from surgical oversight, and I snappied some pictures from a moving car on the expressway. Needless to say, they tend toward the … shall we say artistic? We shall say artistic. (Bonus points if you get the reference.)

The door isn’t anything to write home about, but I like the gables and the stone work and the sidelights.

Can you see the faces? This is the Muhammad Ali Center.

Below is The Galt House. Charles Dickens slept here. So did I. NO, NOT WITH HIM. I’m old, but I ain’t THAT old!

This church was ever-so-far away, so I took a HUGE picture of it and cropped it.

I took a buncha-buncha pictures, so I’m set for a few weeks!

Thursday doors is under the direction of Dan Antion, photographer extraordinaire and critter daddy. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, follow his directions, and enter a world of doors.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Why do doctors lie? They must think we’re idiots.

I can see the faces. Humans look for patterns – and invent them if there are none there to be seen – but since you told me it’s okay, I see faces.

Glad you’re continuing on the mend, sorry you have to deal with it.

I’m glad you see the faces! It makes me happy every time I go into Louisville and see Ali up there. 🙂

Misunderstood by so many in his time – and it’s a shame that he, like so many football giants, has taken so many blows to the head.

I’ve never been a fan of male sports which seem to focus on how tough a man is now – and have no regard for his old age and how people will have to care for him in his dotage. Glad my boys weren’t into contact sports.

Ali was gentle and funny in real life. I was lucky enough to briefly meet him twice, and my mother got her picture taken with him. He was always happy to take a dive if a little kid wanted to box. <3

Oh how frustrating to have that appointment cancelled, Marian. I’m sending you healing and relaxing vibes. Thanks for the interesting photos. Hugs on the wing!

Hugs back, Teagan, if I can grab you and squish you without interrupting your flight. Got some good news yesterday, in that my odds of the cancer recurring are very low. Chances are, I’ll be dead of old age before the odds go up, so that’s (as a friend of #4 Daughter’s says) a shiny liner.

Charles Dickens really got around. He didn’t sleep in our town (that I know of) but he did ride up and down the Windsor Locks Canal. These are great doors. Artistic is fine, but I don’t get the bonus points (sad face). Most of all, I’m glad you’re on the expected flight path.
