I looked at my hair in the mirror and this is what I saw: A fat face with a knob sticking up.

I thought, my ghod, I look like The Powerful Katrinka!

Now, children, before there was ENCANTO’S Luisa Madrigal, there was The Powerful Katrinka.

Katrinka was a character in Fontaine Fox’s Toonerville Trolley (That Meets All The Trains). Fontaine was a big name in Louisville; the amusement park that brightened my childhood life was named Fontaine Ferry Park, and was built on a Fontaine’s estate. Sucks to be him, because everybody called it Fountain Ferry and nobody knew or cared about his former estate. Socialist, me.

But that’s not what I came here to talk about. Toonerville Trolley was a single-panel daily cartoon with multiple panels in color on Sunday.

Fontaine Fox was born in Louisville, which encouraged Louisville to claim the Toonerville Trolley was based on the old Brook Street trolley line, while NYC claims it was based on the Pelham line. Fox says NYC is right, and he should know.

I own a copy of a collection of Toonerville comics, and you can too, if you want to. Not mine. I’m keeping mine.

My nails this week have nothing to do with anything except my notion to combine fluid art with thermal polish.

I mixed Baroness X’s Nacre fluid art polish, Fancy Gloss’ Don’t Play With Fire thermal polish, and some company whose name is too dark to read’s Calypso. While that dried, I laid down a base coat of Hunter’s Helper’s Woman in White pearly white. I topped that with a coat of the thermal. Then I cut pieces of the fluid art with the best “cells” and stuck them on all my nails, only doing half on my thumbs and bird fingers. I stamped my accent nails with Maniology’s Stellar and Maniology’s Droplet and Hunter’s Helper’s Sheriff Badge gold. The stamping plate was Beauty Bigbang’s XL-065.

I had to run cold water on them to get them cold, since my Femara I take for cancer gives me not just hot flashes, but HOT FLASHES! omg, SO HOT!!
