Hulu just keeps serving me good stuff. I adore Dickens, and I’m always in the market for a good adaptation. The Personal History of David Copperfield caught my eye because it stars Dev Patel, who is one cutie-patooty.
The film is true to the period, but the casting is colorblind. It’s a bit odd at first to see Benedict Wong as a man of business in Victorian England, especially since his daughter is black, but you soon stop thinking about such things and just enjoy the fabulous performances. The hardest casting to get past is Tilda Swinton as Aunt Betsy Trotwood, but she’s perfect in the roll, as is Hugh Laurie as Mr. Dick.
Highly recommended.
I have cataract operations tomorrow and Wednesday, so my nails this week feature eyes, including this jewelry given to me by one of Charlie’s sisters (the fabulous, formidable Dolores). She bought these in Turkey, and they’re supposed to ward off the Evil Eye.
The base color is Maniology’s Indikon, the light blue is L.A.Colors gel-like polish’s some-kinda-blue-without-a-label, and the white is Maniology’s Bam! White. The plates are MoYou London’s Explorer Collection – 17 and Maniology’s M052.
I won’t be posting the rest of the week because I have to prep for surgery, then I have surgeries on Tuesday and Wednesday, a follow-up with my eye doctor on Thursday, and recovery on Friday. Chickie claims she’ll be on the job on Caturday, but that remains to be seen.

December 2, 2022 at 10:36amThanks, Dan. Both operations went well. My eye doctor was most pleased, and cleared me to drive. Unfortunately, although she gave me cheaters so I can read, the computer is at an awkward distance.
