Thanks, MyFridgeFood! I found this recipe on there and I made it and I made it again. OMG, SO GOOD! They listed it as a side for four, but I made two full meals out of it.
I made it pretty much according to the recipe on the site, except I used Penzeys Bavarian spice mix and used Yukon Gold potatoes because that’s what I had. Oh, and I used vegan cheese.

The POV character had the beef, and she called the other two contributors Potatoes and Onions. I think the two of them fell in love.
