Thursday Doors: Water, Water Everywhere

#ThursdayDoors

Welp, as I shared on my personal Facebook page, my fall in the woods which resulted in a foreign body cyst on my left palm has followed up that act with a foreign body non-cancerous tumor in the same spot.

SO, I had to go to the hand doctor to have the tumor burned out (we hope) with silver nitrate. They couldn’t quite wrap their heads around my information that silver nitrate used to be put into newborn babies’ eyes to counter infection.

ANYWAY, here’s a picture from the waiting room. The door isn’t much, but I love the art everywhere.

Then, since the door was so boring, I had to follow my treatment with a doorscursion to a restaurant. The things I do to support this challenge!

Since windows are doors for the purpose of this sharing, and since the restaurant doors were as boring as the doctors’ office door, I got pictures of the window.

But then, outside, I tried to get a distance shot of a car wash’s office and bay doors and ended up with this picture I love, featuring an overlooked door much closer to me.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

A fall: the gift that keeps on giving. Hope this is the easiest to recover from. I will attempt not to fall in the woods.

I remember silver nitrate! What do they use now? Baby’s first exposure to antibiotics? My kids are in their thirties – and I have no memory of what they got when they were born, but they seem okay.

Yes, Baby’s First Antibiotic. Sara is older than your kids, and I seem to recall being told they were putting antibiotics in her eyes rather than silver nitrate. I think you’ve made a wise choice not to fall in the woods. On the whole, it hasn’t been nearly as much fun as you might think.

Great doors, and windows are always welcome. I hope this is the last trip to the hospital / doctor related to that fall. Are you ever going to search for mushrooms again?

I go back for a follow-up on Tuesday. I sincerely hope the tumor is gone and I can heal. I bought a pasta roller when my wrists were broken, because of course I did, and I haven’t been able to knead dough since.

And, yes, I will definitely search for mushrooms again! I got a “help I’ve fallen” button that ranges outside the house, and I promised to take a walking stick and a companion, and to buy good hiking boots instead of wearing Charlie’s old pointed-toe cowboy boots.

All good precautions. I hope the tumor is gone. Take care. I’m looking forward to the pasta dishes on Tuesdays.

Sadly, the tumor is still with us. Wretched little beast! I’m about ready to dig it out with a box cutter.

Thanks for the good wishes. Yes, I’m willing to make the sacrifice of going to a good restaurant JUST to get door pictures. šŸ˜‰

Oh Marian. Iā€™m sorry about your fall and ensuing complications. Glad you are getting them repaired. I do hope the woods walk was lovely before you got personal with the ground. šŸ˜‰

The walk was both lovely and productive. I was hunting morel mushrooms and had found about a dozen before I went over. My SIL, who came to rescue me, said I kept saying, “Get my mushroom bag! Don’t let the EMTs step on my mushrooms!” Since I had both wrists wrapped from the fingers to the elbow, I coached #4 Daughter through cooking them. They were worth it. Next year, I’ve promised to wear hiking boots, carry a walking stick, take my “help I’ve fallen” button, and call one of the kids to go with me. I’ll feel like one of those rich Victorians who went on “picnics” with half their staff, china, and silver.

I am so sorry your fall was so generous. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer human. Sheesh. I hope you mend up nice. At times, I am annoyed at how I am older than much of my medical staff. Yes, silver nitrate. I mean, they don’t do that now, but has it really been that long?!? Young people are always discovering things. And by discovering, I mean renaming them and claiming ownership.

While my hand was being operated on AGAIN yesterday, I was telling the young’uns about the ice man and the ice box my Aunt Rose had. They were astonished.
