Thursday Doors: CoryDoors — Cat House

#ThursdayDoors #writingprompt

I’m taking a break from doors my friends sent from afar to post from closer to home. #1 Daughter and her husband put a cat house in their back yard. They considered building one, but decided to buy one pre-made instead.

It’ll have cat doors installed and warm beds and food and water, and all the outdoor cats (and, most likely, a raccoon or two) will be cozy and comfortable for the winter.

You knew that was the kind of cat house I meant, didn’t you? I know you did.

The truck was too big to get back the drive, so the delivery man used this cute little moving machine.

What’s purtier than a gray house with white trim and red door and shutters?

Not much.

Thursday doors is under the direction of Dan Antion, photographer extraordinaire and critter daddy. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, follow his directions, and enter a world of doors.

I am struggling with the whole concept of a pre-made outdoor cat house. Those are some lucky cats. And, yes, raccoons and assorted others that know a good thing when they see it. Gray and white with red door? First class all the way!

It’s really built as a “she shed” or a child’s playhouse or a workshop or something similar. It could be outfitted as a guest house or a retreat. They just bought it for a cat house. 🙂

Daughter and son-in-law say that if the job market doesn’t loosen up, it may be their human son’s house soon.

So kind of them to provide a safe place for outside cats and such – many feral cats really can’t be brought inside, but they can appreciate a safe place with food and liquid water.

They are the dearest, kindest of women. They catch, neuter, and release all their feral (actually semi-feral) furbabies. They monitor their health and manage to get any sick ones to the doctor, and even administer medicine. I don’t think I could do it, but they don’t question it, just do it. I admire them more than words can say.

I love that building! I’m not going to show it to anyone around here, though. I don’t want the construction of such a thing to be my next project.

Surely you want the bunnies and squirrels to live like kings and queens!
