Too many years ago, now, we drove down to San Antonio. It was a great trip, down the Natchez Trace part of the way, stopping off at Tupelo, Mississippi — Elvis’ birthplace — to see his tiny house, stopping off at Oxford, Mississippi to see Faulkner’s … not so tiny house.
In San Antonio, we saw many things, and I’ll probably revisit some of them on other Throwback Thursdays because — I’ll be frank — I don’t have that many outstanding memories to share.
ANYWAY, one of my favorite things we saw, and the only thing we didn’t explore that I wish we could have, was the O. Henry House. 
I love O. Henry, me. I may have read all of his short stories, many of them multiple times, and not just “The Last Leaf” and “The Gift of the Magi” and “The Ransom of Red Chief.”
We had a hideous adventure that morning, with the car window deciding to not roll up, which was not a good thing in downtown San Antonio. So Charlie took the door panel off and jiggered it around — also no fun in downtown San Antonio in the summer — and finally fixed it. And then the little house/museum was closed. Closed. What a disappointment to me. Not to anybody else, mind you, but to me. Alas.
But I got this picture of the deliciously tiny house. I seem to recall reading that this was not the original location of the house, but it was the original location of a bar O. Henry favored, which charmed me utterly.
