Prepping for NaNo

I keep forgetting what I’m going to work on for National Novel Writing Month this year. I keep thinking I need to set aside the things I’m thinking about that would fit in with the Spadena Street series, but I’ll be working on a Spadena Street book for NaNo! Yay!

The Spadena Street series take place in a small Storybook Style neighborhood called Spadena Street and the attached retirement complex, also in the Storybook Style. If you don’t know what Storybook Style is, check out the Storybookers website.

I’ve been charmed and fascinated by this style all my life, and I’m so delighted to have a perfect excuse to wallow in research on it! My problem is restraining myself from boring the non-Storybooker reader with detail. 😉 The “telling detail“–that’s what I need to include, and let Storybook Style fans imagine the rest. We enjoy that, anyway, and all the non-Storybooker needs to know is what goes on and just enough architectural design to give the flavor. I can do that.

WRITING PROMPT: Describe a place, person or thing in detail. Then pick out one or two telling details that convey the impression you want to convey and delete the rest.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
