I don’t have many recommendations this week because I’ve been busy watching cooking videos.
First, I came across Great Depression Cooking With Cora. Cora passed away November 29, 2013, at the age of 98. She left behind 30 wonderful videos, with more coming, since some had been filmed but not uploaded. I love watching her in her cluttered kitchen with its dull knives and kitschy bits and listening to her stories as she works. Good stuff.
Just about the polar opposite is AmmoHead73, who cooks happy, drunk, and/or just about any way you name. He has a heavy Arkansas accent, tats, some kind of sinus condition, and no rehearsals. He uses a hunting knife in place of any other kind, and he makes the kind of food I love to eat. His two-ingredient biscuit recipe is one I definitely plan to try.
Enjoy!
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character attempts to make a recipe taken from a video or television show.

December 13, 2013 at 10:02amWhat a great link! Miss Cora’s site makes me think of a cookbook I found a couple years ago which was a compilation of an elderly and well-loved cooking wizrd from down South. If only there had been videos, too.

December 13, 2013 at 10:05amI know! I’d love to have videos of my Aunt Rose making her trademark dishes, or my grandmother making her fabulous cheeseburgers.
