No Scam — Pin These Primitive But Zingy Jazz Feather Fascinators #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsFriday again! Now that I seem to have my web site and my email under my control — for the moment — I can get back to trolling the internet — er, “trolling” in the sense of “fishing,” not in the sense of “hitting people with emotional clubs,” of course. Hitting people with emotional clubs is Not Nice, and MomGoth doesn’t do it. Not on purpose, at least.

ANYWAY, here are some cool sites I landed on as I made my fritillarious way around the interwebs.

Ever wonder if a particular web site is safe to visit? Well, visit ScamVoid first, and find out. I’m exceedingly pleased to find that this site gets good marks. πŸ™‚

See that nifty Pinterest board in my sidebar? The one with the My Books board on it? I got it at the Pinterest Developers Widget Builders page. If you have a Pinterest account (and at least one pinboard), and a website, you can embed your pinboard (or more than one) on a page or in a sidebar. Coo’!

I may have shared this before, but it bears repeating. My friend and fellow writer/blogger A. C. Flory (Meeka), who is always dragging me into some obsession or another (online jigsaw puzzles, anyone?) posted one of these Primitive Technology videos, and there went my morning. heh. Meeka is almost as bad as Holly Jahangiri (the real one) for dragging me into things. It’s great!

Do yourself a favor and go read Joey’s One-Liner Wednesday post for this week. You’re welcome.

Sarah Zama (JazzFeathers) is participating in the April A-to-Z Challenge this year (I’m not), and has revealed her theme to be 1920s Jazz as a Social Phenomenon. You can bet I’ll be following her posts!

Oh, oh, oh, I have a new Thing. You know how I am about Tiny Houses and Fancy Shoes. Well, I found this site called The Village Hat Shop, and now I’m all about hat porn. My grandmother always looked so perky yet ladylike in a hat, but I always look like … like a pig in a hat, pretty much. Alas. But I can look at them.

I usually write these the night before I post them and schedule them to go up at 7 in the AM, but I’m going to gradually bump them down to around 9. That’s because I have more fun doing Story A Day May if I get up early and write my story the same day I post it, so that’s what I’m aiming for this year. I’m taking suggestions for story sparks. I’ll put them in a container and draw one out every morning. If I don’t get any, or don’t get enough, I’ll reach into my Bits Binder for inspiration. I also have a Bits o’ Paper box I haven’t cleaned out in about twenty years; that could do with excavating.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character falls in love with a piece of clothing they would or could never wear.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I just found out today that I could embed my Pinterest board on my site. You are so hip and ahead of me!

I don’t know if it’s just me or not, but it seems like your site loads faster now. πŸ˜€

I’m glad to hear that my site loads faster, after the hefty slice of hell I had to eat in order to get it away from Bluehost and park it here. heh. Even if it didn’t load faster, at least it usually loads at all, which is a nice change.

Hey! I’ll take that as a compliment, especially as you’ve taken me down the odd rabbit hole as well…small houses anyone?

Cool hats. Some don’t have enough feathers, though. πŸ˜‰

Like the primitive tech site. I’m too old to survive the zombie apocalypse, but these skills could prove useful in some other contexts, I’d think.
    Thanks for the hook up.

Aw, you and I would TOTALLY rock the zombie apocalypse. Like this zombie apocalypso: [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4k5XftdTMs?rel=0&w=200&h=150]

        Totally a-freaking awesome!
        THANKS!
Only you, my friend, would have this at hand.
Once again, your song memory is unparalleled!
