Kindi’s Cherished Shakespeare Sock Puppet Rap Battle #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsAs my grandpa used to say, “Morning, Glory!” It’s Friday, and I’ve been out and about this week, tootling about on the information super-highway.

First, you may not know this, but Louisville has a new superstar. Her name is Kindi, and she’s a beautiful bundle of joy. She’s a gorilla, born in the Louisville Zoo. Whether you believe zoos should be abolished or maintained, Kindi might not be alive, if she hadn’t been born in a zoo.

Her mother died delivering her, and the gorilla-keeper staff have been on round-the-clock shifts caring for her. They wear gorilla-hair-type suits and emulate gorilla behavior, in order to imprint Kindi with the feel, look, sounds, and behavior of her own kind. When she’s old enough, and successfully integrated with the family troop and accustomed to being viewed, she’ll be handed over to a female gorilla who expresses interest in fostering her.

You can see her pictures, look at her scrapbook, and follow her progress at the Louisville Zoo’s Kindi page.

As you can see from the banner at the top of my blog, I signed up for the Cherished Blogfest at the end of this month. I’ll post about something I cherish on Friday, Sweetie Pie will post about something she cherishes on Caturday, and maybe one of my characters will post about something cherished on SampleSunday. Which of my characters would you like to see post that day?

This is making the rounds, but you may not have caught it yet. Allow me:

‘To be or not to be_’ featuring Benedict Cumberbatch & Prince Charles – Shakespeare Live! – BBC from Mai Martin on Vimeo. –THIS HAS BEEN BLOCKED BY THE BBC ON COPYRIGHT GROUNDS. DAMN YOU, BBC! ~shakes fist~

You’re welcome

While we’re doing videos, go waste spend some time watching sock puppets play heavy metal at Sock Puppet Parody. No, you didn’t need those hours to do anything productive.

What’s that? You have more time in your day? I can help with that! If Epic Rap Battles of History can’t sop up that time like white bread sops up milk gravy, I’ll eat my hat.

My work here is done.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about a character who wastes a load of time.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Thanks again for supporting #CBF16 – Three posts! Wow – we are honored!

I think I’m looking forward to Sweetie Pie’s post the most. I have to dig around some of the notes I’ve written about your characters. Hang on – OK, I saved a link that led me to “Andrin the Waymaster” – Ironically, he actually seems to have treasures. Then again, I don’t think he’s a big deal character so feel free to choose another.

You’re welcome to read any or all of the free stories I’ve posted on this blog, and you’re even more welcome to buy and read any or all of my published books. ~grin~ I think Daughter #4 would agree with you about Andrin; he’s her favorite.
