Gonggong and the Art of Jackalope Panels #FridayRecommends

Friday Recommends

If you’re new to this blog, know that Friday is the day I generally link to interesting shiny places I’ve been, squashing them up into one strange post title. So, if Gongong and the art of jackalope panels is an actual search term you deliberately typed in, sor-ry.

ANYWAY, friend and fellow writer Jo Robinson posted this about Gonggong, a possible name for Planet 9. Me, I think they should call it Ed Wood.

One of my nephews, a multi-talented and brilliant fellow, who calls me Auntie M, posted this link on Facebook. I adore Sun Tzu’s concept of winning by not fighting. I find the concept and the practice tremendously exciting. Although coming to the brink of chaos and avoiding it drives some readers bat-shit, and although I’m capable of writing a knock-down, drag-out fight, I get more of a kick out of winning without loss.

At last, good news! The jackalope is returning to Yellowstone! If you’ve never seen a stuffed jackalope, you aren’t besties or relatives of a hunter. If you know a hunter who does not have a stuffed or mounted jackalope, you can buy one on eBay. You’re welcome. Wikipedia says jackalopes are mythical, but Wikipedia is not entirely reliable.

Here’s something that is reliable: Imaginarium is the best creative convention EV-VER. It’s in Louisville, Kentucky, October 11-13, and you bet your boots I’ll be there! One of my books, LONNIE, ME, AND….: A SHORT STORY COLLECTION is a finalist for an Imadjinn award. Wheeeeee!

I haven’t been scheduled for any panels yet, but here’s a list of the panels that will be. Many, many, oh, so many!

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about a supposedly mythical animal which many people insist is real.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
