You find the coolest things on the web, when you go looking. Cool, and dreadful. For instance, I still think of electric cars and solar panels as the wave of the future, but electric car batteries and solar panels are wearing out and going into landfills. How can this be? They just became A Thing when I was a full-growed adult! Now they’re wearing out? (Like I’m not.)
BUT — Trust human ingenuity to figure out how to turn that to advantage. The Washington Post gives us the story of Ryan Pohl, who is recycling old electric car batteries and solar panels to power off-the-grid vehicles, like RV’s parked in places where they can’t plug in but still need electricity. Without his inventiveness, the vehicles ran on generators, polluting the area with fumes and noise. A small thing, but small things add up, and good ideas spread. And get commercialized on a large scale….
Climate Solutions Accelerator pursues climate justice for the Rochester, New York region “and beyond”. As the site says, “deep injustice is both a cause and effect of climate change”. Check out their events calendar. They sound like destination events to me!
I’ve signed up for the Environmental and Energy Study Institute‘s weekly newsletter, so you may see more from them here. The web site’s tagline is: Ideas. Insights. Sustainable Solutions. Sounds good to me! The site is PACKED with information and articles. Awesome!
