Monday Recommends and Nail Art: Community and Patriotism

Patriotism isn’t honoring the flag, it’s honoring the people it represents. I went to a No Kings rally in my little town and was wowed by three things: How many people were there, how few people gave us the finger, and the messages of love from the people who spoke through the microphone. Not just love from us to our fellow participants, but love for even the people who disagree with us. They are, the speakers reminded us, our fellow citizens. We should resist the urge to do Them/Us and redirect our energy to rebuilding community.

Pursuant to that, here’s a link to a site called Street Civics, specifically a page on community involvement and one on Social Wellbeing.

You’re welcome.

Since I went to a civic engagement, I did my nails in blue with white stars and red with white stripes.

It did me good to see the huge turnout, and how many were young people.
