Artsy and Elaborate Origami Textiles #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsDo you have a boatload of money to spend? How about a rowboat full? A teacup? None? Well, if you love art, have I got a site for you!

Artsy

When I first looked at Artsy, I thought, “Way no! I’m not an art collector (although I kinda am, since I have some originals by folks I know). I can’t bid or buy outright!” But Artsy is so much more than a purchase and auction site! You can browse museums, shows, auctions, fairs, and galleries. You can explore the Art Genome Project. Or you can read articles. Fantastic site!

Origami

I’m doing well to fold a square — not a cube, a flat square — so origami seems like magic to me. This Russian lady folds tessellations and kusudamas, so you can just imagine how my jaw dropped when I saw her work.

Pretty Lady Dresses

Yes, MomGoth is ca-RAY-zee about pretty lady dresses. And this French Lady, Sylvie Facon, makes the most gorgeous pretty lady dresses you ever saw! If I had that boatload of money…. Can’t you just see big lumpy MomGoth in frills and furbelows? Sorry about that.

A WRITING PROMPT BASED ON MY POST: Write about art and pretty dresses.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

My youngest daughter is into origami – their apartment had thousands of cranes hanging from the ceiling. We still find them in odd places.
