Yeah, I know that was the motto of the 4077th M*A*S*H, but in this case the best care anywhere was provided by Fandom Fest — specifically Stephen Zimmer heading the Literary Track — and the Marriott Courtyard in downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
Fandom Fest has not always been a happy thing. And sometimes the hotel was meh. But this year was pretty terrific.
We didn’t sell as much as we did last year, probably because we weren’t next to powerhouse Tony Acree, who could sell hot sauce in hell. As it was, six of our sales were due to Tony bringing customers to us. He’s such a mensch!
This year, we stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Downtown and it was GREAT. The ladies working the desk all three days we were there were friendly and warm — genuinely so, not with that fake show-your-teeth-and-call-it-a-smile friendlishness that are just part of doing business. Everybody we dealt with there, including the cleaning staff and any staff we just happened across, treated us like human beings. These are the ladies who made us feel absolutely at home.
How nice were they? We’re now Facebook friends, that’s how nice.
It’s Tuesday, so I’m posting at Fatal Foodies, today on the subject of penne with homemade spaghetti sauce (kinda sorta).
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Put a character into a hotel room.
