There’s A WHAT Out By WalMart?

ATTENTIONA bear, children. A black bear. Here’s an article about it. They have it cornered, hoping to catch it unharmed, although our local animal control officer seems to be hot for the option of shooting it if it gets close to folk. Can’t say I entirely blame him, but I don’t know him well enough to know if he’s trigger-happy or not. They say they think the bear came up from Kentucky.

Naturally, I’ve been singing “The Preacher and the Bear” all day. In case you don’t know that little classic, here it is, performed by Phil Harris, which is how I grew up hearing it.

I’m posting today at Fatal Foodies about one of our vegan feasts. You hear that, Mr. Bear? Eat vegetables!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character comes face-to-face with a wild animal.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

When I saw that bear on the news, I was wondering if he’d stop by to see ya.
    Hope he don’t!

    Great summer feast! Looks scrumptious!

I hope not, too. The way Mom is about bears, she’d probably take him in.

Oh my goodness. Damned lost bears. I hope they don’t encroach further north!
