The Migrating Handprints of Wanderers #FridayRecommends

Friday RecommendsIt’s Friday, and I’m on my way to Inconjunction Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention in Indianapolis. The convention lasts all weekend but I set up posts for during my absence. I also hope to check in to liberate comments from my overzealous spam filter.

Meanwhile, in honor of the sf, because I recently finished reading After the Ice, and because Jane sent me a link, here are this week’s Recommends.

National Geographic has this extremely nifty Map of Human Migration, part of the Genographic Project.

If genetic markers are too ethereal for you, here’s a map of Hominid Fossil sites, showing the fossil sites of, not just humans, but pre-humans. Lots of great links, too, not just missing ones, ha ha.

Finally, here’s this wonderful, wonderful short video I got to from the link Jane gave me, Wanderers. Beautiful stuff!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: What is your character’s genetic heritage?

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I did enjoy, thanks! It was our first time at this convention, and they made us feel right at home. 🙂
