Tipper On The Shelf #Caturday

Hi, there! I’m Tipper Allen, and guess what? I had my one-year Gotcha Day this week! It was one year ago this week that I came to live with Momma and Poppa. I liked all the people I ever lived with, but I’m ready to settle down and have a forebber home.

So Momma askeded me what I wanted for a Gotcha Day present, so I showed her the best I knew how.

I like to look out the window.
I like to sit on flat fings.

And she understood! For my Gotcha Day, she boughted me a sit-inna-windower! Poppa installed it inna bedroom window. Not my faborite window, but it’s the thought that counts, I guess.

[Note from MA: The black thing outside the window is the graywater drain from the washing machine in the basement. Not very aesthetic, but it does the job.]

Happy Gotcha Day, Tipper. That’s a great shelf. I hope the sun shines on it during the day. As the seasons change, you might have to get poppa to install more. We, me and my sister MuMu, have managed to get them installed in almost every window. Here’s how you do it. Jump up and cram yourself onto the window sill of a window without a shelf. Scratch the woodwork if you have to hang on, and if you fall, take the curtains with you. If they try to get you to move, look pathetic (you know how to do that, right?). Sooner or later, a new shelf will go up and you can stake out the next window,

    Follow the sun!

The sun shines there in the morning. I really expected to install it in the back of the house, since that’s where he’s made claw marks on the sills, pulling himself up. But Charlie didn’t want it there, and he’s the Martha Stewart of this crew. He’d prefer to scowl and growl, rather than have a cat sill in a public room. I’m like whatevs.

Gotcha Day is the day you got your pet. As in, “This is the day I gotcha!” Gotcha is American for “got you”. πŸ˜‰

Oh! -giggles- I’ve heard ‘gotcha’ before but always in the context of catching someone out or tricking them. I like your version a lot. πŸ™‚ Happy Gotcha Day, Tipper!

It isn’t my version, Meeks — I can’t remember where I first heard it, but I like it, too. πŸ™‚
