Did you know it’s The Wizard of Oz’ birthday? Did you send it a card?
ANYWAY, one of my Facebook buds shared this article from BBC – Culture about the social commentary we tend to overlook in the dear old film. It’s really rather cynical and resistant.
Another film about a wizard that’s also cynical and resistant, but also (as is TWoO) sentimental and uplifting is Mike Jittlov’s The Wizard of Speed and Time.
I saw the original short at a science fiction convention, and was thrilled to find the feature-length expansion Jittlov did. Bought it. Watched it. Often. Infected #4 Daughter, the amazing Sara Marian with it.
It’s hard to find, now, but Jittlov has approved the uploading of the entire film to YouTube! God, I love that guy!
If you don’t have time right now to watch the whole thing, enjoy the original short right here, right now. You’re welcome.
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about a wizard, someone who thinks he’s a wizard, or someone who thinks somebody else is a wizard.

August 16, 2019 at 9:44amI met my wizard quota earlier in the week! (Of course, I can usually suffice, as long as the batteries in my wands still have juice.)

Love this short. It’s funny and perfectly paced. Plus what a wonderful glimpse back in time. Thanks for sharing it here.
