Cousin Betty’s #ThursdayDoors

The founder of the Thursday Doors link-up is taking a break for a few weeks, so I’m going rogue.

Charlie and I went to see my cousin Betty, who’s been poorly. We were delighted to find her as feisty as ever. She gave me permission to photograph some of her hat collection, although I snapped less than half of it!

But first, some doors/doorways.

All the doors were set at an angle. I thought they were just being fancy but Charlie, clever boy, realized that it was so they could move furniture in despite the narrow hallway. He’s so smart!

Also, some lights for Joey.

And now the hats, which are kind of doors for your head, yeah?

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about a hat or hats.

The hats are cool. The analogy, hmmm, I have to ponder that for a bit.

I must ask if she’s a Kentucky Derby ticket holder? Girls gotta have a hat for the Derby 🙂 Or maybe just an Easter bonnet fan?? Cool collection whatever the reason!

Next time I see her, I’ll have to ask. I know she’s in an antique car club, and they do parades. She brought her Model T to a Corydon 4th of July parade about 10 years ago, and rode Grandpa in it because he was born on the 4th of July, 1910. 🙂

Aren’t they wonderful? They remind me of my grandmother, who always wore a hat to church. I can remember going hat shopping with her, back when department stores had hat departments and assistants who worked there. They all knew her. 🙂
