“But What Can I Do?” VOTE! #FridaysForFuture #ClimateCrisis

Hey, America! Guess what’s more important than who’s president. If you guessed the climate crisis, go to the head of the class.

And yet, of course, who’s in power has a lot to do with policies and public perception about the climate crisis, so vote! You may be married to the idea that only a certain party can deliver progress on issues you care about, but the key issue under consideration HAS TO BE climate destruction.

Whether your candidates are my choice or my worst nightmare, we all need to make certain our candidates support quick and decisive action to save the planet. And then we need to get our butts out of the chair and GO VOTE any chance we get.

In America, go to Vote.org for an easy-peasy process of finding out where and when to vote, how to register, how to vote absentee or early, and all that good stuff like that there.

Mother needs you!

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about voting.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Voting is a right that should be exercised always.

It’s one of my favorite things to do! I vote every time they open the polls. I would say I don’t understand people who don’t vote, but I do understand: Some people feel — with justice — that nobody they vote for cares about their issues or well-being. Still, without exercising the power of their vote, they have nothing to bargain with. That shouldn’t be necessary, but it sadly is. “You need my vote” often seems to hold more sway than, “This is the right thing to do.” Ah, me, I’m growing cynical in my old age.
