Thursday Doors: Better Back Than Never

The last time I went to a protest (last week), I took some back-of-the-shops pictures.

Muy bien
Why are there stars on that building? I don’t know.

A smoker sits behind Zimmerman’s Art Glass.

And, although they aren’t emphasized, there are doors forever in this picture, including the driver’s door of The GothMobile.

Thursday doors is under the direction of Dan Antion, photographer extraordinaire and critter daddy. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, follow his directions, and enter a world of doors.

Sometimes real life is in the back. That area in the last photo is so real I can almost hear how rickety.

Marian, I actually enjoyed these photos. I’ve always been intrigued by the back side of shops. I don’t know why… I was fascinated by these. Hugs.

ME, TOO! They’re like alter egos: No matter how fancy a restaurant is, it has a dumpster in the back.

    Great photos!

As for the stars, I can’t be sure but often, those are anchor points for long iron rods that run across to the other side wall. They give the building some lateral stability. Fine Home Building Magazine had a story (20-25 years ago) about a contractor who thought the iron rod was an old gas line. He told his crew to cut it out. They did, and the building started swaying and eventually collapsed. They had also made extensive modifications inside.

      Ouch!
Thanks for the information — I’ll bet you’re right. It’s nice that they made the anchor points decorative as well as utilitarian.
