Facebook friends know that summer means the return of the photogenic watering can. The cruelty of life going on after an unimaginable loss brings with it the balm of life continuing to supply the little sparks of joy that nourished or souls in better times.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about a tiny thing that nourishes your soul.

July 26, 2020 at 8:39amDespite it being the middle of winter here, and very cold by our standards, the fejoia tree in my garden has fruit on it. Not many, and most are so tiny I have to really squint to see them, but one is bigger – about the size of my thumb. Every day I go out with the animals and check that my green ‘thumb’ is still there, still growing. It is, and it always makes me smile.

July 26, 2020 at 3:20pmSometimes I really hate that my mother’s paintings are here with me – and she is not. It is so unfair that something so unimportant gets to live.
I have a brick that Daddy made – part of his creative fill for cooling towers.
It is all so inadequate. And so necessary.
Hugs, dear friend.
