#4 Daughter has hooked me on Babylon 5. Srsly, that show is crack!
She said the pilot was no good, so she showed it to me last, and she warned me that Season 1 was rocky, as the actors and writers settled into the world and characters.
The story arcs aren’t all wrapped up by the end of the 5-year series, but some of the loose ends are tied up in subsequent movies. That leaves a lot of possibilities for fandom to play around with.
So far, I’ve resisted the siren call of fan fiction, but I may fall into that black hole eventually. Reading, not writing. Not writing. Definitely not writing. I’m done with all that. Helllp meeeeeee….

October 26, 2020 at 8:16amYeah, the pilot was pretty bad, and the first season was spotty. The guy who played Commander Sinclair had severe mental illness and handled it alone, but the stress of a weekly series made it seriously difficult. He left the show after the first season (I think it was that soon). All the acting got better. When the show’s creator started writing all the scripts, the whole thing got better. Stick with it through the first season. I don’t like space battles and I always accompany watching them with pointing at the enemy ships and going “pew pew pewww!”, but the characters become so compelling I put up with the hardware.

October 26, 2020 at 2:40pmJust remember the mantra: Pilot is bad, first season is WAY different and spotty. #4 Daughter didn’t show me the pilot until we’d seen the rest of the series and all of the movies she cared to buy. She said Legend of the Rangers (movie) was so bad, she wouldn’t buy it, even though her favorite character was in it.
