The incomparable Marta Pelrine Bacon (not the subject of this post’s title) is serializing her current novel, The Princess Detective, on Patreon. I highly recommend becoming a patron, not only for the juicy, delicious bits of prose, but also because patrons receive the most beautiful and delightful artwork from Marta at regular intervals.
Today’s one-liner is from Chapter 13 of The Princess Detective, describing the bearing of one of the aristocrats in the queendom:
