My grandfather was the kindest man I ever met, but he was also sassy and funny. If anybody had a problem or was unhappy, he’d do what he could to make things better.
That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t make some kind of crack about it. He had two he favored:
You’d cry if somebody spit in your beer.
and
You’d kick if you was hung with a silk rope.
Then he’d help you solve your problem.
