The other day, #4 Daughter, the amazing Sara Marian, said something from another room that neither I nor her housemate, the marvelous Dora, could understand. Dora asked her to repeat it and she said something that was almost identical to what her grandmother, my mother, used to say in a similar situation:
I don’t know what I said; I wasn’t paying attention.
