Sunday Snapshot: What Is?

#flowers #petunia

I did a Google Image Search on this volunteer in a planter of dead dill, and it appears to be a mini petunia.

I have no petunias. So, thank you birbs, for eating a seed, flying to my house, and pooping in my planter.

What a cheerfully bright spot of color! I have birbs that plant pequin peppers (yummy!) and squirrels that plant peanuts! I’m debating whether to harvest this year’s crop (maybe a third of it – they did the work and ought to reap some reward, but then again, I’d hate for the peanuts to rot and them to eat it and get crazier than they already are!

I suggest you harvest the whole crop and then feed some to the squirrels during the winter. Squirrels forget where they bury stuff, but so many squirrels bury so much stuff that digging pretty much anywhere will eventually turn something edible up. They won’t know you harvested their planting, and they’ll appreciate the peanuts they don’t have to dig up.
