Monday Recommends and Nail Art: Angi — Yes or No? — and Swirls

I need my roof replaced, so I went to Angi (formerly Angie’s List) and asked who was in my area. A few names and contact numbers came up and, before I could save them, my phone started ringing. Three out of the four contacts called and made appointments to inspect my roof and give me a quote.

So 10 out of 10 for responsiveness, but -10 for persistence. I keep getting calls and emails from Angi asking me about my project and giving me advice on how to choose a roofer. I suppose I would appreciate that if I were lost and confused, so I ought to rate that a plus 10, but I hate getting unsolicited emails and phone calls, so minus it is.

My nails this week are simple gold swirls on metallic teal.

It was easy, and I like easy.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Persistent unsolicited advice.

I do like those nails. They send a nice vibe.

I don’t like unsolicited emails and I abhor unsolicited phone calls. I didn’t know anything about the way Angi works. You didn’t ask for advice (feel free to ignore this, I won’t call or send you emails).

I would drive around and look at roofing projects that are underway or roofs that were recently installed. If the roofer is gone, I’d stop and ask the homeowner. If I had to have a new roof installed, I’d use the company who did the roof on the house behind us. The owner loved this company, and they did really good work. Similarly, I have put two companies on my do-not-use list.

That’s a good idea! I do have two local recommendations. One was the highest bid and the lowest length warranty, and I still need to call the other one.
