Thursday Doors: Whimsy Begins

Every couple of years, local artist Leah Porter puts on an art show of her own and other local artists’ work. It’s always enchanting — original, beautiful, slightly off-kilter, and utterly delightful.

This year’s show was in the … I think it was her garage. There was a map of the interior.

You know how you go to a botanical garden, and there are plants around the walls and plants in the middle, and paths around like water around islands? This was like that, only with art.

Next week and probably the week after, I’ll give you pictures of the displays, if that’s the word I want. This week, I’ll just lead up to it.

Here’s the sign.

On the other side of the road is the Fairgrounds, with barns and exhibit halls.

Here is the house, with a path mown from the sidewalk to the back, where the whimsy was.

One entrance was through the open end of a tent. I like the wooden gate beyond.

Tune in next week, prepared to be enchanted!

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
