Food Tuesday: Soup and Sammich

So I made a grilled cheese sammich and canned cream of mushroom soup. BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!

The bread I used was nutty oat bread and the cheese I used was a blend of Gruyère and Swiss.

I began the soup by dry-frying some fresh portobello mushrooms, then added herbs and spices and a half cup of white wine and a half cup of water and about 1/4 tsp of chicken bouillon powder.

It looks burnt. It wasn’t. I can’t photograph food.

    I am impressed. You made your own cream of mushroom soup. I didn’t think that was possible. I was raised on cans.

      I HAVE made my own cream of mushroom soup, but this time I just doctored up a can. I was raised on Campbell’s soup in those red and white cans with fat children on the label. I forget when the “Campbell’s Kids” vanished.

        They dumped the kids, and now, they’re dumping ‘soup’ – the will no longer be the Campbell’s Soup Company – just Campbell’s Company.
