#ThursdayDoors #catio #writingprompt
I was going to let Tipper break this news of his “apprize”, but now I’m not, as I’ll explain in a minute.
He’s always begging to go out, but then he gets scared and hides under the porch. So I decided to buy him a catio.
It came in pieces in a box. Contrary to anything I’ve ever done, I got Charlie’s electric screwdriver and a pair of his work gloves and I put it together all by myself! Thanks! It has doors!

As for why Tipper didn’t get to share this: HE WON’T GO IN! He and Chickie each freaked out when I tried to put them in it. I have a screen cat flap on order for the house window. We’ll see if they like it when they can go in and out by themselves.
Thursday doors is under the direction of Dan Antion, photographer extraordinaire and critter daddy. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, follow his directions, and enter a world of doors.

March 10, 2025 at 7:27pmWhat a fabulous idea. And grats on putting it together yourself! I’m sure Tipper and Chickie will have fights as to who gets to go out first…once they have their inside/outside door. š

March 11, 2025 at 11:02amWell, it turned out to be not a very good purchase in that the wood is super soft. One of the wheel blocks already split and broke off, so #1 Daughter took all the wheels off and set it on cement blocks. Now I won’t be able to move it as I please, but the cats — and the raccoons — won’t be able to shove it around. I can just imagine the raccoons moving it aside and coming into the house through the cat flap! Now they can’t, so I guess it’s a blessing in disguise. As a friend of Sara’s says, “shiny liners”.

March 10, 2025 at 5:32amYou go to all that trouble, and the cats won’t go in? I think cats are born with a contrariness gene. Nonetheless, it’s an impressive catio.

March 10, 2025 at 9:01amThey are, indeed! I think it’ll change, once I get the window screen cat flap and they can come and go on their own.

March 6, 2025 at 2:35pmI think so, too. Just on their own time. When I get the window screen cat flap, they can come and go on their own, and I think they’ll like that.

March 6, 2025 at 12:11pmMarian, I wheezed out a chuckle. I knew that’s what you were going to say. All that work! What a shame, because it looks great. If that upper door could just line-up with a window (in your house)… but things never work out that way. Big hugs.

March 6, 2025 at 1:03pmIt does line up with a window! I’ve ordered a window screen cat flap for the nice weather. I can’t keep the screen open, or bugs can get in. Bugs, at best.

March 6, 2025 at 10:21amOf course they won’t go it. You did so much work, they have to snub it, at least for a little while. Don’t worry, they’ll be in there and trying to break out before too long.

March 6, 2025 at 12:58pmOF COURSE it turned cold just when I got it finished. The good news is, Tipper hasn’t whined to go out since I tried to put him there.
