And Yet

by Marian Allen

The roads weren’t worth driving on. The cars weren’t worth driving. The pay wasn’t worth earning, and the goods weren’t worth buying.

The debates weren’t worth having. The elections weren’t worth voting. The politicians weren’t worth electing or opposing.

“Civilization” wasn’t worth “preserving”. Humanity wasn’t worth saving.

And yet the sun rose and set. And yet, the tides rolled in and out. And yet the moon waxed and waned and the stars multiplied as the electricity failed.

The cities weren’t worth maintaining.

And yet.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
