#FoodTuesday #writingprompt
So I thought, “I wonder if I could make those little rice babies that are in tteokbokki.” So I found a recipe on Maangchi’s Cooking Korean Food and that they’re called garaetteok and that I had all the ingredients: rice flour, salt, hot water, and sesame oil.
I had to use at least twice as much water as she said to use and it never did look right. It was wypipo rice flour, so it probably wasn’t the right kind.
ANYWAY, you mix the dough and microwave it, then you BEAT THE EVER-LIVING FUCK OUT OF IT. I used the wooden pestle from my mortar and pestle set. Then you roll the dough into a long snake, divide it into pieces, and roll each piece into a cylinder.

They were okay, but not as chewy as the ones we had from the store. Another recipe called for cornstarch as well as the rice flour, saying that the starch made them chewier. If I ever make these again, I’ll add some cornstarch. But I’ll probably never make them again.
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: A hard job, almost worth the effort.
