My mother used to crack me up. In fact, we cracked each other up. My grandpa used to say,

I never know what you two are talking about, but I love to hear you laugh.

Take Mom’s review of a book, not THE LAST UNICORN, but I don’t remember the one. She was not a fan of this book, although she was one of those people who would read a book to the end, even if she was complaining the whole time. Charlie was the same.

ANYWAY, I asked her for her opinion of whatever book it was. Her answer was in three parts, but they’re each small and they’re a progression, so I’m calling the three of them a one-liner.

The first part was written by Peter S. Beagle. The second part was written by his beagle. The third part was written by a bagel.

I’ve still never heard a better review of a book that (in the opinion of the reviewer) went from the sublime to the dreadful.
