I’m sorry I’m just now getting around to sharing Jester Queen (a.k.a. Jessie Bishop Powell) with you; she’s super. Take this post, just as one example, called Compassion is Not Self-Righteousness, which includes one of my favorite sentences ever: “Throw lifelines, not stones.” Jessie is the author of a mystery featuring a pair of primatologists entitled — wait for it — THE MARRIAGE AT THE RUE MORGUE.
Now allow me to introduce you to my second-favorite living archeologist/author, Sarah Wissman. My favorite, of course, is Sara Marian. Sarah Wissman combines history and mystery in books set both in the past and in the present.
Ravishly claims “There’s no wrong way to be a woman.” To prove it, they posted this AWESOME article by Anne Thériault called Russian Witch Baba Yaga’s Guide To Feminism which is one of the funniest things I ever read. You’re welcome.
In case you didn’t know it, I adore tiny houses and I adore storybook style houses, so you may imagine my delight when I saw this Transforming Castle Truck. In a word: WANT!
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Would your main character rather live in an ambulatory hut in the woods or in a castle truck on the road?

I loved all the links today. Oh, my goodness!
I’ve always had a weakness for Baba Yaga. I read her stories when I was quite young and, strangely, never found them scary. Rather, somewhat aspirational. On the other hand, Dr. Seuss absolutely freaks me out! And I didn’t read the books until I was past the lower target age! Only Horton has managed to pass the test of not being absolutely freaky.
And you are right: The castle truck is indescribably awesome.
DO click on the video!
Thanks.

March 20, 2015 at 12:40pmAs I recall, they had Baba Yaga stories in Highlights magazine. I’m pretty sure that’s where I read them. Like you, I wanted to grow up to be Baba Yaga. Now I’m an old woman who lives in a house in the woods with a cat. If I could just teach the house to walk, I’d be there! I loved Dr. Seuss, too, but I loved all that freaky stuff. The freakier the better.

March 20, 2015 at 2:11pmWow, thank you! What a delightful surprise for my in-box this morning! A huge lifeline while I try to herd my brood up to Ohio for spring break and somehow get over to Atlanta to see one of my best friends as well!
