Summer Haiku #SampleSunday #poetry

In honor of summer, here is a selection of summer haiku. Don’t panic; only three of them.

Summer Haiku

by Marian Allen

Dual hummingbirds
battle at the feeder. Two
Cyranos duel.

The dog sighs, pressing
a dog-shape into the grass,
thumbprint of the sun.

Mantis in my hand,
Come to the garden. Come meet
Japanese beetles.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about three things summer brings to mind. Write about three different things summer brings to your protagonist’s mind. Three different ones it brings to your antagonist’s mind, or the protagonist and antagonist can share one or more, but view them differently.
